All NHS Trusts in the South West have signed the Armed Forces Covenant

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.

Signing is a necessary precondition towards Veteran Aware accreditation.

Southern Regional Lead Bernadette Knight said: “Well done to all 20 Trusts within the South West area. It’s hugely encouraging for me to hear this. It means that Trusts understand the importance of caring for their Armed Forces communities and doing so in a visible way by signing the Covenant.

“The Armed Forces Covenant is in the NHS constitution.   However, we ask Trusts to pledge their support by signing the Covenant to demonstrate their own commitment to the Armed Forces Community.”
