Disability Stockport has independently signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant under the leadership of Disability Director Keiran McMahon.

The charity recently appointed Gavin Jones as Armed Forces champion and is fully committed to the Armed Forces agenda.  They were previously involved in collaboration with the Borough of Stockport.

An event held on 16 August 2021 to celebrate the signing, was attended by representatives from the Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VCHA); Greater Manchester Police; Fulwood Barracks; local Councillors; the Mayor of Stockport, Councillor Adrian Nottingham; Stockport Breakfast Club; the Groundworks charity, along with Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.

Kathryn Glass, VCHA Regional Lead North West, said: “I am proud of the great work that Disability Stockport are doing, and how their collaboration with public and private sectors is supporting veterans and the whole military family.”

To date, over 40% of NHS providers in England have become Veteran Aware accredited. 17 of these are in the North West.  For more information, please email us at rnoh.vcha@nhs.net.
