Diving to the rescue: Rescue dogs help veterans improve their mental wellbeing

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust has today published a good example of its work with veterans – NHS-supported open water swimming sessions with award winning rescue dogs, to help veterans cope with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Retired Lieu Col Guy Benson, who is also VCHA Team Leader, said: “This is a great example of the work with veterans that we would encourage. Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust has been accredited Veteran Aware for about three years and since that time has active in developing best practice in the care and support of veterans, reservists and their families.”
