This national event is to celebrate what the VCHA programme and NHS Trusts has achieved to date and also to look to the future in terms of continuous improvements in healthcare for our military community and widening scope.
Confirmed speakers will include:
- Mr Johnny Mercer MP – Minister for Veterans’ Affairs
- Colonel David Richmond CBE, the Government’s independent Veterans Advisor
- Kate Davies, CBE, Director of Health and Justice, Armed Forces and Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs) for NHS England
- Professor Tim Briggs CBE, Chair and National Lead for the Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VCHA).
We will also be hearing from Veteran Aware NHS trusts about how they have developed best practice over the eight manifesto standards that enable them to achieve their commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant.
“Our symposium is shaping up to be an exciting event that will shine a light on the work that has been done by various NHS providers. There is more work to be done and more is being done, but what we have done so far has shown the value of the accreditation in helping to develop, share, and drive the implementation of best practice, improving care for veterans and service families, in line with the commitments set out in the Armed Forces Covenant (AF Cov). We thank all of these trusts for working with us to help in raising standards in the face of the many pressures they are working under.”
Professor Tim Briggs CBE
